What a great game! Perfect as the original, great for a quick trip or a long one. Good graphics, good sound and you can play against someone! Ideal for anyone's phone.

I remember getting my first Connect 4 set when I was very young and I think I tried to eat all the pieces. It's a simple concept, just an extended version of noughts and crosses (tic tac toe for our American cousins, what does that actually mean anyway??).

The graphics are very nicely done, the board is represented pretty faithfully and the pieces are black and red. The pieces drop pretty quickly and there are some bright colours on the menu screen. When you win, the four pieces you connected burst into flames! Cool!

The sound is pretty decent considering there doesn't need to be any. There's a pleasant (after a few goes) tune which is nice to listen to and two different tunes if you win or if you lose. There are no sound effects when you drop the pieces and this may have been a nice touch, but this is by no means essential.

The controls are so basic that I really don't think I need to bother, but just for the completist in me.......the menu is navigated using the directional pad. The centre button chooses on the menu. In game the directional pad moves your piece either left or right and you press the centre button to drop. The shoulder keys pause the game or quit to the menu.

The playability of the game is huge. Connect 4 is a simple and addictive game to play. You can play either one player against three different levels (casual, good or expert) or you can have pass play where two players take turns on the phone to play against each other. Perfect for long or short journeys or for your kids to play in the car. The modes are challenging (I haven't won on expert yet after 3 goes) but are staggered well. The only drawback is that on expert, the AI takes a while to decide which move to make as it calculates all the options. But this is neither here nor there. There's a help option to teach you how to play the game and if the game is suspended on the GX20 (ie you close the phone lid) then the game automatically pauses which is a great great feature not present on most games.

The lastability of the game is also huge. Connect 4 is so simple and fun that it's the sort of game everyone should have on their phone for those times they are waiting for the bus, train or anything else. The casual and good modes are nice to play as each game is obviously different and it's not that hard to win. The expert mode will give most people a challenge to the lastability is great.

Overall, you should definitely get this game for your phone, pretty soon everyone in the office will be playing you!
