A top quality game that's smarter than the average platformer.

Yogi's pic a nic is a simple platform game where you have to collect food and pic-a-nic baskets to progress to the next level.

The graphics are really cartoony and match the original animation. They are cute, bright and well rendered, giving the game a classic plaftorm feel. The backgrounds are fairly simple but the main characters and rangers are done so well you don't really notice. A very nice job.

The sound in the game is first rate. You get a pleasant tune when you load the game up and this, for once in a phone game, appears in game. You also get the option to turn the sound off or on when you load the game. There are numerous effects when you collect all the food, die or when you dig a hole plus there is vibration so a lot of sound in the game which well suited and pretty decent for a change.

The controls are simple. You move the character using the D or key pad and can dig holes with the main button or 5. If you want to look around to see if a ranger is coming use the 1,3,7 or 9 keys to look up and down and the * and # keys to look left and right. Easy to pick up and they become second nature.

The playability is great. You get to play as either Yogi or Boo Boo through many levels trying to get to the mountain in the centre. The levels increase in complexity and the number of rangers in them. What is great about the game is that it's not just about avoiding the rangers, they can pick up the food as well and so often the only way to get some food is by digging a hole they fall in and then collecting the food from them. This interaction with your 'enemy' makes the game more interesting and playable. And the learning curve is well thought out, just when you think you've finished a level, one small lapse in concentration and you have to start again! As platform games go, this is very enjoyable due to the simplicity and addictiveness.

The lastability is great as well. The levels are split between playing Yogi or Boo Boo and there are 14 of them. Once you have completed a level, it saves automatically and you can select which level to play. The levels get bigger and more challenging and I found myself playing this game whenever I got a spare minute. Now, if I could just finish the last one!

A great platformer for your phones. Simple, addictive and pitched just right to have you coming back for more!
